FOX EXPERT wheel kit for even lawn cutting

Cutting a lawn evenly with a hand-held trimmer is hard: your arm gets tired, the blade drifts up and down, and the cut comes out uneven. This kit fits the FOX EXPERT trimmer in place of its standard guard. The trimmer sits on two wheels and rolls across the lawn at a constant height, so you don’t have to hold it up.

3 cutting heights
The wheels fit into one of three holes on the platform, so moving them changes the cutting height. The wheel bolts are secured with sealed lock nuts that don’t work loose from vibration.

Design
The platform and wheels are plastic, and the wheels are 120 mm in diameter and 32 mm wide. The kit weighs 395 g. The shaft still folds for storage with the kit fitted, though the trimmer then takes up more space.

How to fit it

1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the blade: unscrew the nut anticlockwise, it has a right-hand thread.
3. Undo the bolt on the standard guard, turn the guard and lift it out of the slots.
4. Insert the kit into the same slots, turn it the way the guard was fixed and tighten the bolt.
5. Refit the blade and tighten the nut clockwise.
6. Set the wheels to the height you need.

Where it works and where it doesn’t
The kit is made for flat, well-kept lawns. It works poorly in tall grass, on bumpy ground and on wet lawns, where it’s better to cut without it. For weeds and bushes, remove the kit and refit the standard guard. Never use the trimmer without a guard.

The kit fits FOX EXPERT only and works with all its 150 mm blades and heads. It does not fit FOX Professional, which uses 230 mm blades. For a flat lawn, metal blades work best, for example the 4-blade one.

Who it’s for
Anyone who finds it hard to hold a trimmer for long, whether because of back or arm strain or age. The trimmer rests on the kit and you simply push it in front of you.

Similar wheeled platforms are sold there as “universal” and in several sizes. Mounting slots differ from trimmer to trimmer, so it’s easy to order the wrong one, and sending it back to China rarely makes sense.
